Course Overview

The Oxfordshire Clubhouse was developed in 1992, amalgamating Japanese and English design features to create a truly unique user experience. Enlarged kitchens were built to provide superb dining facilities, and the washrooms were designed with a Japanese style in mind.

The structure was completed in line with the seeding of the course, and The Oxfordshire was officially opened in the spring of 1993.
Events at The Oxfordshire soon followed, with the hosting of SPARKS day, the first annual Japan versus Britain match, The Oxfordshire Ball and the Champion of Champions tournament. By 1995, news of the beauty of the course spread, and The Oxfordshire was chosen to host both the Andersen Consulting World Championship of Golf, and The Wilkinson Sword Ladies English Open.

In 1996, the course was chosen to host the Benson & Hedges European Open, and all the successful European 1995 Ryder Cup team competed. The tournament attracted players including Nick Faldo, Jesper Parnevik and Gordon Sherry. The tournament stayed at The Oxfordshire until 1999, when it moved to The Belfry.
