Stableford Format Definition

Stableford is simply a points system for golf. After completing each hole and taking your handicap allowance off you are left with your ‘nett' score for that hole. Follow this chart to then discover your points scored.

  • Double bogey or worse = 0 points.
  • Bogey = 1 point.
  • Par = 2 points.
  • Birdie = 3 points.
  • Eagle = 4 points.

To work out your shot allowance look at the stroke index (S.I) column on the scorecard. Stroke index 1 will be the hardest hole and 18 will be the easiest. So for example if your handicap is 18 you will receive one stroke allowance on every hole. So if the first is a par 4, stroke index 14, and you score a 5, this will be your ‘gross' score. After your one shot allowance this will become a par four and you have recorded 2 points.

If your handicap is 22 you will receive one-shot allowance per hole and a two shot allowance on the holes ranked 1-4 on the stroke index column.
If your handicap is 15 you receive one-shot allowance for the holes ranked 1-15 on the stroke index & no shots on stroke index 16, 17 & 18.
If at any point you are unsure just record your own gross score for the hole and the PGA Professionals or scorers on site will tally your total points for the round.

When playing 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford, choose the score that gives the most points on each hole from you and your playing partner.

Remember to sign your scorecard.

Good Luck and enjoy your round!!
